Sachamama

Unidos Para La Madre Tierra

The Ethnobotanical Garden 'Sachamama' (literally, 'mother spirit of the jungle') was founded by ethnobotanist, shaman and visionary artist don Francisco Montes Shuña - of Capanahua origins - in 1990, following a vision during an ayahuasca ceremony in  which  'Sachamama', the mother-spirit of the jungle, appeared to him and guided him towards the creation of this space. The resort comprehends 60 hectares (now destined to increase thanks to the continuous and generous donations of people from all over the world) of beautiful secondary rainforest and hosts an impressive number of medicinal and ethno-culturally significant plant specimens.
