Deposit & Booking Deadline

A deposit of £ 450 GBP will secure a place in Sachamama. Formally, we require it to be received at least 40 days before the intended date of travel, with the final or full payment/balance to be received by us - with funds cleared - no less than 30 days prior to your departure in Peru. Unless due to a real emergency, please stick to the deadline. If you wish to book your place and pay your participation fees ahead of the standard period required, for extra peace of mind, you may do so, saving us time and energy! We strongly recommend longer advance booking time if choosing the plant diet retreat, given the limited availability of places.

Cancellations & Refunds

Although an extremely remote possibility, we reserve the right to cancel a trip/retreat at any time. In such a case, El Mundo Magico shall have no responsibility beyond the refund of the money paid by the trip participant, net of bank fees.

In case of trip cancellation on your part, up to 26 days before your first arrival in Lima, we will retain £ 230 GBP for administrative fees, and refund the difference paid by you, after bank fees (all bank fees are on your side, for all cancellations made by you that give entitlement to a refund).

No refunds beginning from 25 days before your first arrival in Lima, or else, beginning from 26 days before your scheduled retreat date in Sachamama (whichever is earlier).

After the expiring of the deadline we *might* still re-schedule your trip/retreat at a later date, at our sole and exclusive discretion, subject to previous assessment of suitability, feasibility and availability, followed by written confirmation, and to the payment of a cancellation fee of £ 230 GBP per retreat participant, PLUS the reimbursement of any charges or losses we may incur - as result of your cancellation -  from  the service providers (instances of which are - without limitations - Hotels, travel agencies, airlines, workshop/retreat providers, tour guides, tour operators, banks, Western Union, etc.).

For the sake of clarity, please note that the 25 days no-refund period is counted both towards cancellations made by you before your first arrival in Lima/Peru and to any cancellations/abandonment/curtailing of your scheduled trip/retreat in Sachamama, eventually made by you once in Peru, even if due to emergency/unpredictable/unforeseen circumstances, for which you must be covered by an appropriate travel and medical insurance.

It is  not possible to exchange the money paid for a retreat in Sachamama with any other retreat or programme we offer.

Accommodation

Accommodation in the Hotel in LIMA and IQUITOS is in single room with private services inside for individual travellers; in double room for groups of two people, in triple room for groups of three or more people, all with private services inside.

Accommodation in Sachamama is in traditional-style Amazon wooden buildings with thatched palm roof. There are now two large bungalows which have undergone a radical restructuration: each one of them has screened, private rooms (with personal lock), with shared showers, running water/wash basins and toilets inside. Sleeping areas are equipped with comfortable, cotton-made mosquito nets. Inside each one of the two buildings there is a communal area for socializing. Under special request, generator powdered electricity might be provided in certain areas of the Ethnobotanical Garden, running up to 3 hours during the evening. This is hardly used however, and most travellers do prefer candle light to electricity...There are no wall plugs to recharge batteries or electric/electronic equipment in Sachamama.

Dieteros - e.g. people under 'plant diet' regime - will be staying in one of the twenty private, individual (and more rustic) tambos (traditional Amazonian hut built on stilts), separated from all the others, and set far apart from the main structure. All these tambos have now the comfort of a private toilet and a shower. They have been recently refurbished and are entirely screened with metal mesh as protection from insects. There is no electricity  in the areas where the dieteros live.

general information

Schedule & Jungle Etiquette

El Mundo Magico reserves the right to change the order of the schedule offered, or to make adjustments/changes to the programme, at any time without prior notice. Participants are expected to show respect at all times for the environment they are into (being that plants, animals, the rainforest or ceremonial practices) and to project a friendly attitude towards their fellow travellers and native people. We reserves the right to kindly decline - at any time - applications of participants reputed unsuitable to the spirit of the initiative and programme offered. Should you behave in a way which is either offensive, defamatory, derogatory, disrespectful or abusive of other people partaking to the retreat, to the ceremonial practices, to the shaman(s), or to the local people working in the centre, you will be asked to leave immediately, the entire payment received for your trip will be forfeited and with no entitlement to refunds, You will also not be re-admitted in Sachamama at any other time.

Valuables

Participants should take care of - and are entirely responsible for - their valuables, at all times. A security storage facility is offered, usually free of charge, in our Hotel in Lima. Whilst in Peru, keep your valuables locked in your backpack and keep your room locked when you are away. Avoid public display of large sums of money, expensive jewellery, or expensive camera equipment, especially in the street and in market places.

Insurance

Travel Insurance is a requirement to protect yourself in case of flight delays and cancellations, and also in case of abandonment, curtailing and cancellation of the retreat in Sachamama on your part, due to emergency or unforeseen circumstances.

You are also required to take appropriate Medical Insurance for your trip to Peru/the Amazon, which would cover you for urgent emergency evacuation, including repatriation by air ambulance. We recommend this to include cover for a minimum of £ 2,000,000 GBP, or equivalent in foreign currency.

Your premium should be forwarded to us at the same time as your payment, alongside your liability waiver, in order to ensure that you are protected under the coverage & terms of your policy.

We recommend a type of insurance which would offer immediate payment to the service providers in Peru, rather than offering a refund of medical expenses upon returning home. Please don’t be overly alarmed! Just using some good precautions and common sense will keep you always on the straight path!

 Liability Waiver

Click here to go to the Waiver of Liability

All participants to trips facilitated by El Mundo Magico must accept the terms and conditions indicated in the waiver of liability for Sachamama Ethnobotanical Garden. Please print, sign and return to us the form by recorded/registered mail.
