Live Recordings of Icaros on Music CD

A 54 mins CD with a rare collection of icaros recorded live in the Peruvian Amazon Rainforest, during traditional ayahuasca ceremonies led by different master shamans, in a time span of more than eight months (October 2000-June 2001). These icaros - by don Francisco Montes Shuña (a maestro vegetalista of Capanahua extraction, cousin of Pablo Amaringo and founder of Sachamama Ethnobotanical Garden), don Fernando Laiche Celis (a maestro vegetalista of Cocama origins), don Jose' Coral (a 96 years old muraya, he too of Cocama descent, featured in Vegetalismo and Ayahuasca Visions, by L.E. Luna, renowned to enter into trance without the help of the ayahuasca brew) and don Ruperto Peña Shuña (an amazing 75 years old muraya, of Capanahua ancestry) - are powerful, magical melodies, genuinely recorded in the jungle and during traditional ayahuasca ceremonies. Both anthropological, ethno-musical document and sacred music to listen at for shamanic journeying and ceremonies. Our special thanks go to don Francisco Montes Shuña, for his kind help and support in the production of the CD. Included in the selection offered is the hunting rhythm of the icaro del perfume, belonging to the category of the huarmi icaros, traditionally used to magically win the love of a woman... Appeal

Please support our work by purchasing original copies of the icaros CD. We are a small, independent organization and need your help to continue with these productions. El Mundo Magico has entirely financed the making of this CD, from the recording level, to the selection of the icaros to be presented, to the complex editing and mastering phase, to the final production and promotion. Editing these songs proved to be more than a challenge, given the live nature of the recordings and - in special mode - the settings and 'complementary sounds' usually accompanying all ayahuasca ceremonies! 

We are exploring ways to promote this CD - as well as future productions - to a wider audience through a larger production, and very much welcome any contribution, suggestion, idea or project - compatible with the magical and sacred nature of these songs - that would bring benefits to all parts involved and to the shamans (keepers of this knowledge and without whom this work would never have been realized in first instance...), in a ethically-sound way. Our appeal is especially addressed to people working in the music environment - musicians and producers alike - and to individuals, organizations, or institutions which purse among their aims the preservation of native and shamanic cultures of the Amazon.
