Ayahuasca Healing Retreats in Onanyan Shobo

Cocama Shaman Don Eriberto Pacaya Taricuarima

Don Eriberto has matured so far 40 years of experience in working with plants teachers and ayahuasca and has dieted extensively with different classes of 'plant doctors'.

Short in size, but powerful in spirit and bursting with energy, "doctorsito" Don Eriberto dieted with palos maestros (teacher trees) like the Huaira caspi (Cedrelinga catanaeformis) for four months, the resin of the powerful Catahua (Hura Crepitans) for five months, and the Ayahuman (Couropita guaianensis) for three months.

He also dieted with Ajos quiro (Gallizia corazema) for three months - and with Puka lupuna (Cavanillesia sp.), Bobinsana (Calliandra angustifolia), Chiric sanango (Brunfelsia grandiflora) and Uchu sanango (Tabernaemontana sp.) - each of which he dieted for four months. The Chuchuhuasi he dieted for five months.

In the kingdom of the plantas maestras (teacher plants) he dieted the Piñon colorado (Jatropha gossypifolia) and Piñon blanco (Jatropha curcas) - for three months each - plus Toe' (Brugmansia suavolensis) and Ipururo (unidentified) - each for five months.

Among the vines: the heavenly Cielo ayahuasca and the strong Trueno ayahuasca - "thunder ayahuasca" reputed to deliver very powerful purge and thunder-like visions (this last, should only be tried by the most experienced shamans) - which he dieted for a period of five months each.

He also dieted with the perfume Agua de Florida for five months and the aromatic substances Timolina and Creolina, for respectively five and four months.

His strong icaros he sings in a mixture of Quechua and Cocama and - a few times - these are also combined with a few words in Spanish (Castellano). He uses chacapas, a "musical instrument", a dry leaves-fan, which most native and mestizo shamans ayahuasqueros of the Amazon (with the exception of the Shipibos) use to sweep the body of those who attend the ayahuasca ritual sessions, for cleansing and purification, and also to rhythmically accompany the singing of the icaros.
